Dear all,
It sure has been awhile since I’ve sat down in front of my computer to type a lengthy letter about my whereabouts and what I’ve been up to. To be perfectly honest, I’ve been putting off this email for a week now, but alas, I’ll get back into the swing of things soon enough. I hope your holidays were as splendid as mine were. Alright. Here we go:
January went by so fast. The same friend and I took a trip to Madison to visit our retired art teacher (eventually I will probably dedicate a whole blog post to that trip. Eventually, haha.) She took us to a couple art gallery places and played us some music. Overall, it was great to catch up with her and laugh about so many things.
My boyfriend took me out one Saturday night to see The Hobbit and to eat at Olive Garden. We decided to dress up, mostly because I wanted to wear a dress and feel classy, which I did! At the movie theater, an older couple sat behind us and the old man said to his wife something along the lines of “If I wore a suit and tie, would you hold my hand?” It was adorable. The Hobbit was brilliant and Olive Garden’s food was delicious. I had such a great time.
The second week in January, I visited my grandma and she convinced me to look into UW-River Falls. I also wrote a blog post about that titled “To Transfer or Not To Transfer.” In the end, my boyfriend and I took a visit up to River Falls where I met with the head of the education department. I had signed up for a half hour discussion and the old guy talked to me for an hour. He definitely convinced me to apply and as soon as I get my acceptance letter, I’ll be one happy girl.
I visited my ole high school over break as well, where I spent the morning helping out with the junior kindergarten class and chatting with my teacher friends. They were very excited to hear I switched my major to education and I was introduced to the class of four/five-year-olds as Miss Nicole. It was fun to go back and help out again and hopefully over my spring break, I’ll be able to do that once again.
I planned many dinners and breakfasts at Lake Magnor with my cousins and friends. We did a bowling night as well and we had a great turnout. We’ll definitely have to do that again over the summer. I also spent lots of time with my boyfriend, watching Doctor Who and playing Clue with his mom. (:
That was my break!
Now for college. I’m back in the city that always sleeps. Classes are definitely going to be more challenging this semester, which I’m happy about. Last semester was such a bore for me. I’m taking an International Cinema class to fulfill my Global Perspectives requirement, which should be pretty interesting as we discuss camera angle and length of shot and what it all symbolizes. My roommate is in one of my teaching classes. Our advisor teaches it and gosh, we love that old man. We’ll be going to a nearby school to observe and help out the classrooms starting at the end of February. Should be exciting, despite the fact that we have to dress professionally. I need to go shopping. So bad.
My UWP friends are all fine and dandy. Over break, two of the guys got girlfriends so they’re now all cocky, which makes my roommate and I laugh. She’s very disappointed that I won’t be here next year, but we’ll make this semester rock. We went bowling both Friday and Saturday night. Bowling is cheaper here than it is back home so I was actually able to afford it. Friday night, I bowled a 135. It’s the best I have ever done in my entire life. Yes, I took a picture of it, ha ha. It was pretty fun and we’ll most likely be doing that every few weeks. I hope all is wonderful with you and have a fabulous week.
Xoxo
